Wool is Amazing
We are members of the Georgia Sheep and Wool Growers Association, started in the 1950's. The purpose is to promote healthy sheep and successful, well-informed shepherds.
Wool is amazing. Wool is:
Breathable – able to transport moisture in a vapor state from one place to another. Wool clothing wicks moisture away from your skin, making you drier and more comfortable.
Odor Resistant – the moisture wicking properties minimize the growth and life of odor-causing bacteria.
Warming and Cooling – air that is caught in the wool crimp is a natural insulator and can help keep you warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer.
Strong and Resilient – it can be stretched, bent, twisted and tugged in any direction literally thousands of times without damage.
Naturally fire resistant – which is one the reasons why so many military uniforms are made from wool.
Natural and sustainable – wool is a natural product, produced by sheep and available for harvesting (shearing) every year without damage to the sheep.

Sheep are a great addition to the green Georgia countryside, and can be worked into grazing rotations with other animals, such as these Dexter calves.
